Chinese Porcelain may have other scripts (archaic seal form or normal Chinese script form or symbolic diagrammatic form) for e.g special art school studio halls that were given permission or commissioned by the emperor to produce porcelain and mark it with the hall in which it was made. These are hall marks and can usually be seen on the base of the item. Again copies have been made in respect to these respected Hall studios right through to 21st century.
Other unusual symbols on Porcelain can be found in the emperor Kangxi Period (1662 - 1722) such as the empty double blue circle, Artemesia Leaf Mark and the Lingzhi Fungus Mark. During the early Qing dynasty, up until the early 1680's conditions were unsettled in China and the making of Imperial wares as well as the use of reign marks on porcelain was restricted in various ways, hence symbols described above was used until normal Chinese script was introduced back again in respect of the emperor. Copies have been made in respect of these symbols through the 19th and 20th centuries.
Chinese Porcelain also comes in various palettes, e.g. Famille Rose, Famille Verte (predominately green), Famille Noir (predominately black), Famille Jaune, blue and white etc.
